The visually impaired soon will be able to use the BlackBerry. Because Research In Motion (RIM) as the smart phone manufacturers are currently developing a special BlackBerry applications for the visually impaired so can read the screen. RIM has made a copyright or patent for the device, called multi-tap keyboard user interface.

Applications will be immersed in the capture command BlackBerry or key press on the keyboard users, and then inform the user what button has been pressed in the form of sound. In addition, equipped BlackBerry application could also help explain what the menu will displayed on BlackBerry via voice.

Until now, there is no justification or an official denial from RIM regarding this matter. However, RIM currently developing an application that can help people with limited vision in order to easily access and operate their BlackBerry smartphone.

Comment :
The previous months HumanWare launched application called Oratio. The Oratio is application based on screen reader that converts the information presented visually on the BlackBerry smartphone screen into speech output. This would be a good combination between HumanWare and RIM, because RIM applications based on key press and HumanWare application is based on screen reader.
